“I strive
to push the limits of myself and the material to create
unique pieces of glass art” |

Brendan Kager began working as
a glass artist over eight years ago at the Corning Museum
of Glass Studio in Corning, New York. Studying under renowned
artists and expert faculty, Kager’s repertoire expanded
to include techniques such as fused, blown, and cast glass.
While he enjoyed all types of glass working, blown glass
became his passion.

In 1998, Kager was named an apprentice to Niche Award winner
Christian Thirion. He studied under Thirion for six years,
greatly expanding his skills and knowledge of blown glass.
Working in this type of atmosphere helped Kager not only
learn the technical skills needed for glass blowing, but
allowed him to appreciate glass as an original art form.
Striving to develop his own unique style, Kager aims to
combine fine art and functionality.
|
Kager has been invited to
participate in glass blowing demonstrations throughout the
United States and Europe, and has exhibited his work throughout
the Northeast. A resident of Bethesda, Maryland since fall
2004, Kager continues to create new glass, expanding his
style and technique, while still focusing on and producing
functional fine art. He is currently teaching classes and
creating glass at DC Glassworks in Hyattsville, Maryland
and Rick Sherbert Glassworks in Glen Echo, Maryland. His
work can currently be seen in Ed Chasen Fine Art Gallery
in Washington, DC and at A Show Of Hands in Alexandria, VA. |
